Flour & Salt is a new bakery and retail franchise in Taipei, Taiwan which I designed at Pentagram in 2015 with Natasha Jen. Inspired by two essential elements of the baking process, the company’s geometric “blob and hexagon” logo became the departure point for the architectural language of the interior.
A modular "kit of parts" furniture system allows for a variety of merchandise display possibilities. The plywood “peg and board” units are imagined as adaptable tabletop displays, shelving units, and storage areas, enabling the store to be reconfigured frequently and efficiently. To activate the space, elements of the graphic identity are replicated and recalled throughout, reifying the brand message and unifying the architectural language of the space overall. Brand identity created by Yenwei Liu, wallpaper graphics by Jang Hyun Han.
